Humans are made up of body and soul. The soul consists of the mind (which includes the conscience), the will and the emotions. The soul makes up what the Scriptures call the "heart."
Now, we live in an imperfect world filled with suffering like confusion, sickness, divorce, violence, depression, narcissism, pride, jealousy, anger, rage and much more. These things produce negative and unproductive emotions, as well as a lack of will to change our circumstances. As a result, we need help in various forms to be able to handle and navigate through life wisely and triumphantly at various stages. One of God’s gifts to mankind and the most important forms of help one can receive during various life stages is counseling.
Counseling is any conversation intended to influence, guide, or help people. It is engaging with you to understand your behavior, feelings, thoughts, circumstances, relationships, desires, choices, beliefs, memories, anticipations, values, motives.
A framework is a set of beliefs, principles or idea that guide the way counselors:
Therefore, before you receive any counseling, it is critical that you understand the basis, ideas, and principles influencing the advice and support the counselor gives you.
From our perspective, the real question is what is the most important ingredient in counseling in order to effectively identify root causes, promote behavior change, and inspire one’s soul? It is: Wisdom, but not just any kind of wisdom. Biblical wisdom. Using Biblical wisdom means that we are not just helping to alleviate your symptoms but are also helping you to identify and address root causes. And we are looking to see what the Creator of our body and soul has to say about what truly works and what doesn’t for your soul.
Knowledge is information acquired over time through life experiences, school, and reading. Wisdom, on the other hand, is the right and timely application of knowledge.
“Wisdom gives us strength in times of difficulty. Wisdom builds resilience. Wisdom provides endurance. Wisdom empowers perseverance. In other words, wisdom helps us cope with real life. The wise person can cope with complexity, problems, and troubles. So, when we are overwhelmed by life’s struggles and troubles, we need wisdom. Counseling that is effective and helpful will impart wisdom to those who are faltering in their moment of adversity. If wisdom enables us to handle life’s troubles, then wisdom is one of the critical things we need to obtain from the counseling process. We need wise counsel. Counseling should impart wisdom so that the counselee is equipped to cope with life. A wise counselor facilitates one’s growth in wisdom to handle current and upcoming issues .”-Kyle Johnston
